An explanation for Patrick Vieira missing Crystal Palace’s pre-Manchester United press conference has been provided.

Manchester United vs Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace face a trip to Manchester on Sunday for a meeting with Manchester United.

Palace head into the game looking to bounce back from a recent dip in form.

After beating Manchester City 2-0, it was expected that the Eagles would kick on under Patrick Vieira’s tutelage.

Why Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira missed pre-Manchester United press conference

However, since that win, Palace have seen off Wolves, drawn with Burnley, lost to Aston Villa and, most recently, been beaten by Leeds.

With both Burnley and Leeds currently involved in a relegation scrap, it is not exactly the results Crystal Palace fans will have been expecting following their victory over Pep Guardiola and co.

Now though, Palace face another tough test in Manchester United. The Red Devils have already picked up wins over Arsenal and Villarreal since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left, as well as drawing with Chelsea.

And, with Ralf Rangnick in the dugout for the first time this weekend, a new manager bounce does seem likely.

Patrick Vieira absent from pre-Manchester United press conference

Ahead of facing United, Patrick Vieira was expected to hold his latest pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

However, that would instead by held by Vieira’s assistant, Osian Roberts.

As part of his press conference, Roberts explained that Vieira was absent from the presser due to personal reasons:

Osian Roberts has confirmed that the manager is absent for today’s press duties for personal reasons.
